About Us
Coffee Time Comix is the home of comics & books written by John Kratky. He has been creating comics for nearly 20 years, starting in the realm of webcomics before jumping into physical publishing through Kickstarter.
John’s aim in storytelling is to create worlds that he grew up loving. With his dramatic crime fiction, he writes about characters on the edges of society, the forgotten men & women who sometimes have to go to extreme measures to find themselves. Whether they succeed or not, the ride to the end promises to be intense, introspective, and full of action. As an avid Film Noir fan and reader of classic crime novels, John wants to take this love and translate it into a modern take on the genre.
His horror stories fall under the label of Forgotten Folklore, are of the gothic & folk horror variety. These stories take us into the past, into lands unknown yet familiar, where monsters and humans walk the earth, and both can be as bad as the other. Here John takes inspiration from the classic EC comics, as well as the horror films of Universal, Hammer, & the Corman/Price/Poe collaborations of the 60’s, and mashes them up into his own universe of sometimes fun, sometimes moody tales of terror.
John loves these two genres and they are where he primarily works. If you are a fan of either, come along for the ride and find a world of deadly surprises, dark humor, & desperate living!
